Hoima East division council has adopted a resolution of regulating street parties and Adult Content (Ssenga) conferences that are always organized in the city.
During a Thursday council sitting at Hoima Resort Hotel, the councilors passed a resolution banning Ssenga conferences from being organized in open spaces directing organizers to always organize such conferences in halls with the councilors revealing that these conferences have inconvenienced other residents who are on their day to day activities.
On the issue of street parties, the council resolved to have the parties in less busy streets which will not affect the business activity along those streets.
Abubakar Busobozi the Northern Ward Coucillor to the division says the Ssenga Conferences have always created inconveniences in open spaces which are near the mosques and schools hence affecting effective prayers and learning among others. He says it is better to hold conferences of adults in halls especially in basements and other private spaces where these engagements can effectively be conducted.
He also added that street bash and parties should always be organized in a less busy areas in order to give an opportunity to other businesses to run their operations effectively.
Bosco Muhanuzi the mayor Hoima city East division say they have passed a resolution to push these adult conferences to closed spaces like halls other than gardens and grounds in a bid to create harmony among locals in the city adding that young ones are always exposed to adult content whenever they are organized, in open spaces.
On the issue of street parties, he revealed that they are not supposed to be organized along highways and also, they have asked the town clerk to guide and name the streets in the city from where organizers can take these parties adding that these are supposed to be held starting night times only.
Moses Muyambi the division deputy resident city commissioner due to the noise effect, as security together with the town clerk they will work towards streaming how these events can be organized effectively.
