A section of Kikuube leaders have raised concerns over the continued trend of low turn up of leaders in the first weeks of opening of new school terms in government schools in the district.
The same trend is already being witnessed in several government schools in the district with few pupils having reported on day one of the school term opening in the new academic year 2025.
According to the district Vice Chairperson Vincent Opio the trend of low turn up has mostly been registered in government schools in rural areas adding that the trend originated from the teachers who used to turn up late for new school terms however this has since changed.
Opio revealed that during their monitoring visit conducted on Monday, only five pupils had reported for the new term at Kikoboza primary school raising concerns on parents’ lack of commitment to send their children back to school even after a two-month long holiday.

Nkalu revealed the district leadership has already embarked on the renovation of school’s entire buildings valued at 217 million shillings, and provisions have been made for temporary learning arrangements that are enabling pupils to attend classes under trees and in makeshift structures until the new classroom buildings are completed.
The district inspector of schools Amon Zondera revealed that the performance of children in candidate classes in national exams begins right from the foundation classes encouraging parents to take their children back to school
