18 Killed in South Sudan Plane Crash

A plane has crashed in South Sudan, killing at least 18 people. The crash happened on Wednesday in the oil-rich Unity state.

The flight had been, chartered by Chinese oil firm Greater Pioneer Operating Co.

According to officials it had 21 people on board, including two pilots.

Gatwech Bipal, the Minister of Information in the oil-rich Unity state told journalists in South Sudan that the plane crashed while it was taking off near an oil field and heading to Juba.

According to officials, those on board the plane were oil workers mostly South Sudanese, one Indian and two Chinese nationals.
