Unknown people have killed a secondary school teacher in Hoima City.
Moses Katusabe, a mathematics teacher at Bwikya Muslim Secondary School was
attacked on Friday by two Panga-wielding men at his home in Kicwamba cell.
The thugs reportedly hacked him severally on the head and neck. Katusbe died as he was being rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
Rogers Kyalisiima, a resident of Kicwamba says, they heard Katusabe screaming for help and rushed. They mobilized to take him for treatment but he died before they could reach the hospital.
He says the motive behind the killing is not known stating that, residents in the area are currently living in fear.
Bosco Muhanuzi, the Mayor of Hoima East division has tasked the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that the suspects are arrested.
Iddi Magezi, the LCV Councilor for Hoima East Division says, there is a need for security to intensify surveillance and patrols in the area to avert crimes.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says, investigations have already commenced appealing to the public to cooperate with the police by providing crucial information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
Murder cases have escalated in the Albertine region leaving the police and the residents in tension.
On September 18th, 2024, thugs waylaid and stabbed to death Peter Atuhura 22, a resident of Bujumbura East cell, Hoima West Division in Hoima City. He was attacked and killed while heading home with his brother Conrad Kwikiriza.
In September, the Police in the Albertine region recorded 38 murder cases.
Statistics obtained from the police in September indicated that Kagadi topped with 10 cases, followed by Kikuube which registered 6 cases while Kakumiro recorded 5 murder cases.
The statistics further revealed that Kiryandongo had 4 cases, Masindi recorded 4 cases, Kibaale had 3 cases, Hoima recorded 3, Hoima City 2 cases and Buliisa 1 case.
Most of the murders were a result of domestic violence, mob justice and land wrangles among others.
