The police in Hoima city have initiated an investigation into circumstances, under which an unknown woman delivered a baby girl and dumped her in a pit latrine. The incident happened in the wee hours of Sunday morning in Kyesiga cell, Hoima West division of Hoima city.

Residents heard the baby crying from a pit latrine belonging to one of the area residents at around 3 a.m. and alerted local leaders. Robert Balikurungi, the area Defense Secretary explains that after his office was alerted, he rushed to the crime scene but he could not do much.

Balikurungi immediately alerted Hoima police which swiftly responded and rushed to the area. Unfortunately, the baby had already died by the time the police arrived.
