The Hoima District Council is investigating a controversial land deal in Buraru Sub County.

The deal involves government land belonging to Buraru Sub County totaling to 27 acres. Documents available indicate that 12 acres of the disputed land were given to a one Gerald Businge with an aim to help the sub county process a land title for the remaining 15 acres that Hoima district councillors say was out of order.

This was revealed in a private member’s motion presented by the Buraru sub county female Councilor Doreen Komukyeeya, saying the allocation was done without following proper procedures and now she wants the deal revoked immediately.

The Buhanika sub county male district representative Chiche Benson Rukumba supported the motion but the district speaker Swaibu Nyangabyaki, has ordered the production committee to conduct thorough investigations before the council can proceed with the matter

The Hoima district LC-5 Uthuman Mubarak Mugisa says the matter is more technical than political arguing that it has been left in the hands of the Hoima Chief Administrative Officer- CAO to handle

However, the Buraru sub county chairperson  Robert Mwanga who is accused of selling the land has refuted the allegations saying it is aimed at tarnishing his name.
