Masindi Man Kills Father

Police in Masindi district are holding one Nelson Okecha 28 years old for murdering his father 68-year-old father identified as Mansi Omwoch, the local council one chairman of Nyakabaale village.

The above are all residents of Nyakabaale village, Kibibira parish in Kiruli Sub-County, Masindi district.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson reveals that on 1st of June 2024 at around 1:30pm the chairman Omwoch -now deceased organized a family meeting at his home regarding the theft of his solar panels.

Hakiza explains that the deceased suspected his son Okecha of stealing his solar panels hence calling for the meeting which annoyed Okecha who went to his house, picked a panga and cut the neck of his father.

He says the chairman died on spot and the suspect ran into hiding. Okecha was later arrested by residents in the neighboring Kimina village where he had gone to seek refuge.

Hakiza says the suspect is currently detained at Masindi CPS and will be charged with murder.
