A decomposing body of a 29-year-old man who was attacked by a crocodile has been found in waters of River Kafu in Kyamusakaazi parish at the boarder of Hoima and Kyankwanzi districts in Nsambya sub county, Kyankwanzi district.

The deceased is Bruno Kaija a resident of Kisenyi Kinogozi in Kikuube district but had moved to Kyamusakaazi parish at the time of his death.

The residents and relatives of the deceased began a search for the body on Friday after news made rounds that he had been killed by a crocodile in River Kafu. However, their efforts had not registered success until Monday evening at around 7pm when they landed on the decomposing body under floating bushes in the middle of the river.

The body was found without bruises or wounds something that residents reveal the crocodile hit the boat, turning it upside down which caused the deceased to drown in the waters.

He added that the reptile has attacked at least six people in the same area and had also attacked the deceased several times however he would survive by swimming quickly to the nearby floating grass.

Nicholas Twongirwe the councilor for Kyamusaakazi parish says the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has done several sensitization campaigns on avoiding the waters with aquatic life without getting permission however the community is yet to heed to the call.

He challenges the residents to first seek permission from the authorities before they can begin fishing in the river.
