Police in Kagadi district are looking for a man who chopped off his estranged wife’s two hands before fleeing the scene of crime.

The victim has been identified as Rose Basemera aged 22 years, a resident of Nsugasugi B village, Kanyangoma parish in Kagadi Sub-county. She is currently nursing serious injuries at Kagadi general hospital.

According to the Albertine regional Police Spokesperson SP Allan Julius Hakiza, the suspect identified as Eldad Byaruhanga attacked his former wife last night from her aunt’s place in Nsugasugi village where she had visited to check on her children.

Hakiza asserts that the suspect found the victim asleep at around 3:00pm and cut off her two hands before fleeing the scene.

He attributes the act to domestic violence, adding that police have started investigations that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Hakiza warns residents against taking laws into their hands, asking residents having grudges to always report to authorities for reconciliation and peaceful resolution.
