There was drama at Hoima district council sitting held Thursday after councilors refused to approve James Jackson Magambo Mugenyi Mulindambura as the LCV vice chairman.
ON Monday this week, the Hoima LCV chairman Uthman Mugisha Mubarak nominated Mulindambura to fill the vacant position of LCV Vice chairman pending Thursday’s council sitting for approval.
During today’s council sitting, Mugisha first rescinded the decision to nominate Mulindambura saying he needed time to make consultations creating mixed reactions amongst councilors who accused him of foolery.
Later, Mugisha nominated Mulindambura but councilors rejected his approval on grounds of misconduct, abuse of office and corruption.
Patrick Rusoke, the councilor representing Buraru Sub County says Mulindambura lacks integrity following his previous track record.
Godfrey Byaruhanga, the councilor for Kabaale sub county accused Mulindambura of misusing a government motorcycle and a vehicle registration UAX 942Z belonging to the district and illegally hiring out road equipment for Hoima district local government.
In his response, Mulindambura wondered why councilors used his past record to reject his nomination yet he has served as an executive member of Hoima district council for the past terms diligently.
Mulindambura vowed to continue serving the public in Hoima as long as he is delegated by the district chairman.
Uthuman Mugisha, the Hoima district chairman noted that he had earlier been notified of plans by a section of councilors to disapprove Mulindambura’s nomination wondering why council declined to approve a resourceful person like Mulindambura
Mugisha says he will nominate another person during the next council sitting.
