Politicians in Bunyoro region have been warned against compromising their religions in disguise of seeking for votes.
Retired Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara diocese Rt. Rev. Nathan Kyamanywa says as religious leaders, they are concerned over the increasing violation of religious values by politicians seeking for cheap politics.
Kyamanywa was preaching at the thanksgiving service organized by the Bunyoro NRM mobilizer Michael Christopher Ayeranga at his home in Kyakirube village, in Bugambe sub-county, Kikuube district.
He say they want to invite the synod to pass a resolution to ban all Christian political leaders who go to seek for blessing from the Faith Of Unity Movement from receiving holy communion.
Without mentioning of the politicians, the Bishop said that several Christian political leaders have been several times seen knelling before the leader of Faith of Unity Obusobozi Bisaka claiming for blessings, something he says is undermining and demeaning Jesus’ mission.
He challenged such politicians to make decisions either to remain Christians or join faith of unity movement.
Speaking as chief guest, the state Minister for public service Mary Grace Mugasa underscored the need for parents to focus on child upbringing.
Ayeranga commended religious leaders for promoting spiritual development of the society.
However, challenged them to mobilize their followers to embrace government program such as PDM and Emyooga to improve on their household income.Â
During the thanks giving service, over Sh12 million was raised toward the completion of Kyakirube Church of Uganda.
