As schools end the second academic term today, parents and local leaders have been challenged put in place measures to protect children from abuse and also ensure children are engaged in productive activities.
Harriet Kihumuro the Hoima district Education officer says parents should reflect on what happened during COVID-19 when many children mostly girls got pregnant and boys joined drug gangs which stopped them from going back to schools, something that was blamed on parents over negligence.
She advises parents to teach their life skills that will make them busy instead of loitering.
