Over 1000 national identity cards have been canceled by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, following the illegal process in which they were acquired in Uganda.
Brig. Johnson Namanya Abaho, the Commissioner for Citizenship and Passport Control says it was discovered that some individuals had National IDs from Uganda and at the same time other countries hence they had to be canceled because they had been issued illegally.
Namanya made the remarks during the Bunyoro Kitara Sub region engagement workshop organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs held at Hoima Resort hotel which was meant to streamline the issuing of the new national identity cards by 2025.
Namanya further calls for Ugandans to embrace government programs and acquire new National Identity cards when the exercise starts.
