Police in Kikuube are holding two suspects for allegedly strangling a man to death.

The suspects are Denis Wamani 28 and Mildred Kusemererwa 23, both residents of Kiswaza village in Munteme parish, Kizirafumbi sub county.

They are accused of strangling to death Brian Kasafari 35, a resident of the same area. The incident occurred over the weekend.

It is alleged that the two suspects had a misunderstanding with the deceased for unknown reasons. As a result, they pounced on him and strangled him to death.

They later dumped his body a few meters from Kiswaza trading center.

Jimmy Byonabye, the Kiswaza LCI Chairperson says area residents discovered the lifeless body of Kasafari lying by the roadside near Kiswaza trading center.

They alerted the police who rushed to the crime scene. The lifeless body was found with bruises on the neck, an indication that he was strangled to death.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says they have arrested the two suspects to help them with investigations.

He says the suspects who are currently detained at the Kikuube Central police station will be arraigned before the court to be charged with murder once investigations are through.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s body has been handed over to the relatives after a postmortem was conducted.
