Crocodile Mauls 72-Year-Old Man in Hoima

A crocodile has mauled a 72-year-old man in Lake Albert in Hoima District. The deceased has been identified as Richard Onviko, a fisherman attached to Toonya landing site, Toonya parish in Buseruka sub-county.

It is alleged that Onviko on May 19th went for fishing on Lake Albert on. However, while on the lake, the crocodile emerged from the Lake and grabbed him.

Pascal Giriya, a fisherman at Tonya landing site says although the deceased sounded an alarm it was not possible to rescue him since he was a distance away from other fishermen on the lake.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says that the fishermen teamed up with the police and retrieved the body from the lake on Monday with some of the body parts missing.
