The Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Andrew Byakutaaga has said that Buliisa District is still part of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and led by His Royal Majesty Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru.
The Premier’s remarks follow the election of former Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Norman Lukumu as the cultural leader of Mutebengwa Bwa Bugungu (Kingdom) in Buliisa district.
Though Bugungu cultural institution is not yet legally allowed by government to operate, the 56 clans of Bagungu last week convened and elected leaders to move forward their Cultural institution.
Speaking to the press at Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom headquarters, Byakutaaga says BKK will challenge all the irregularities and manipulative schemes that are being promoted by a few self-seeking individuals whose interest is to divide the people who have for long lived in peace in a multi ethnic set up.
He adds that there is no cultural leader in Buliisa District.
Byakutaaga adds that the kingdom has consulted and verified from various government agencies including the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development which regulates cultural institutions in the county in which they discovered that the election of the cultural leader was not endorsed by the government.
