Kikuube LCI Chairperson Arrested Over Mob Justice

James Muhanuzi, the LCI Chairperson Muhwiju village in Buhimba sub county in Kikuube district has been arrested over alleged acts of mob justice.

Muhanuzi was arrested following the death of a 31-year-old man Joel Tugume, a resident of Ruyanja Cell in Hoima West Division.

It is alleged that Tugume was caught red-handed pick-pocketing mourners at a burial on Sunday. Some of the mourners reportedly pounced on him beating him to death.

Julius Hakiza, the Albert Region Police Spokesperson says that Muhanuzi was arrested after investigations revealed that he commanded and also participated in lynching the deceased.

According to Hakiza, the hunt for other suspects who allegedly participated in the killing of the suspect is ongoing.
