Unidentified Assailants Kill Pigs, Torch Houses in Kakumiro

The Police in Kakumiro is hunting for unknown people who attacked Kyarunyonyi Village, Nalweyo Sub County, killing eighteen pigs and torched houses.

The assailants reportedly raided the home of Charles Niyonzima 64 at around 9 pm on Sunday.

According to Niyonzima, he was not at home at the time the assailants raided his home, but when he returned, he found eighteen pigs had been killed and his two houses torched.   The assailants also cut into pieces 6 of his mattresses and also destroyed his Television screen.

Victor Kyalisiima, a neighbor says that they are currently living in fear following the attack on their neighbor. He wants police to expedite investigations to establish the motive of the attackers.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson says that investigations into the incident have commenced.     He has appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by availing information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Hakiza says that once arrested, the suspects will be arraigned before the court to be charged with Aggravated Robbery, Malicious damage, and arson.
