Police has arrested two suspects for allegedly murdering a man in Kibaale district. The two are in custody at Kibaale central Police station.
The suspects whose particulars have been concealed by Police for fear of jeopardizing investigations and others still at large reportedly connived and killed Businge Akugizibwe 30, a resident of Bujogoro trading center in Kibaale district.
It is alleged that on Thursday night at round 11pm, the suspects together with others still at large reportedly waylaid the deceased as he was going home from Bujogoro trading center and hit him with a blunt object on the head for unknown reasons.
The deceased reportedly sounded an alarm that attracted area residents who rushed to find out what had happened to him.
Twinomujuni Byamukama, a resident told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Friday morning said that when they rushed out to help, they found Akugizibwe lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
They later mobilized and rushed him to case medical center for treatment, but he was pronounced dead on arrival since he had over bled.
Boneventory Atwongeire, another resident wants Police to expedite investigations so that the remaining suspects who participated in the brutal killing of their colleague are apprehended and charged accordingly. He wants Police to thoroughly investigate the matter to establish the motive of the attackers.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson says the suspects have since been taken to Kibaale central Police station where they are currently being held, adding that once investigations are through, they will be arraigned before court to be charged with murder.
Hakiza has appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the Police by providing vital information that could lead to the arrest and detention of other remaining suspects who are still at large.
He says the body is currently lying at Kibaale Health center IV mortuary pending postmortem.
