A decomposing body of a yet-to-be-identified man has been retrieved from river Muzizi in Kagadi district.

The body was retrieved this Thursday afternoon at around 12:30 by area residents in conjunction with the police.

Fred Talemwa, the LCIII Chairperson for Kyaterekera town council told Uganda Radio network in an interview on Thursday afternoon that residents of Muzizi cell in Kyaterekera town council saw the body floating on the river and alerted area leaders.

He says his office immediately alerted Kyaterekera police who later joined the residents in retrieving the body.

Talemwa says the deceased person is not a resident of the area since he is not known to the residents nor leaders, adding that no case of a missing person has been reported in his area.

Hillary Bwambale, the officer in charge of Kyaterekera police station says police teamed up with the locals to retrieve the body.

He says police later conveyed the body to Kagadi general hospital where it is currently lying pending postmortem.

Bwambale has appealed to relatives with a missing person to cross-check with the police or Kagadi general hospital.
