Police Impound Vehicle Used in Fuel Siphoning

Police in Kikuube on Tuesday impounded six jerrycans of fuel and a vehicle used in stealing of fuel in the critical oil road construction.

The vehicle registration number UAD 189K was impounded during a police operation to crackdown on the increasing acts of fuel siphoning among drivers and workers on the ongoing road construction projects.

The operation comes days China Railway Seventh Group, a Chinese company undertaking major road works in Bunyoro noted that it loses 4500 litres of fuel every month.

According to police sources, the thugs were found in Kyakatemba village siphoning fuel but when into hiding when they noticed police presence.

China Railway Seventh Group is undertaking the tarmacking of the 25k Hohwa-Nyairongo-Kyarushesha-Butole road, 25k Kabaale-Kizirabfumbi road and 47km Masindi-Biiso road. The three years project will cost Sh500billion.

The Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amlan Tumusime says security has identified a store when stolen fuel is kept in Kirizanfumbi town.
