Fuel Siphoning in Bunyoro; Chinese Road Construction Company Loses 4500 Litres of Fuel Every Month

The Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amlan Tumusime has expressed concern over the continued fuel siphoning tendencies among the drivers and workers on the ongoing road construction projects.

Speaking during an orientation meeting for drivers and casual laburers on traffic guidelines organised by China Railway Seventh Group, a road construction company, Tumusiime expressed dismay over some drivers who connive with community to siphon fuel.

China Railway Seventh Group is undertaking the tarmacking of the 25k Hohwa-Nyairongo-Kyarushesha-Butole road, 25k Kabaale-Kizirabfumbi road and 47km Masindi-Biiso road. The three years project will cost Sh500billion.

According to sources, the Chinese company loses over 4500 litres of fuel every month to staffs who engage in fuel siphoning.

He says that as security they have deployed spys on the ground adding that soon culprits will be arrested and charged for sabotaging government projects

Ambrose Atwine, the Company spokesperson says they have put up mechanisms to mitigate fuel theft which he says is affecting the progress of the project.
