Masindi High Court has remanded ten residents of Kibaale district in connection to the murder of the former Kibaale district engineer Gordon Twesiime.
High court presided over by high court judge Justice Jessy Byaruhanga remanded Josephat Alibankoha, and nine others to Masindi prison utill 26th March 2021, pending more investigations by the directorate of public prosecution.
Appearing before the court on Wednesday, ASP Wycliffe Mugisa who commanded the operation by the time, the mob attacked Eng Twesiime at Mituju trading center, says, Â the deceased had been accused of stealing a mini bus tax vehicle.
Twesiime was killed in 2017 by an angry mob that took him for a vehicle thief. It all started when the deceased 49, entered a taxi as a passenger and after seeing that he was being delayed, he jumped into the driver’s seat to drive off heading towards Kakumiro District.
Angry residents then blocked the road at Mituju Trading Centre in Nyamarwa Sub-county, Kibaale District after information spread about the theft of the vehicle. Twesiime was beaten badly that he died shortly after being dropped at Mubende Hospital for.
Mugisa confirmed to court that the arrested residents had been spotted on a scene for beating up Twesiime.
Prosecution told court today that, on 14th Sept 2017, the late Eng. Gordon Twesiime was beaten by the angry residents who blocked the road at Mituju trading center Nyamarwa Sub County in Kibaale District accusing him of stealing a vehicle.
