Several leaders and locals in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom have paid glowing tribute to the late Owek. Isaac Kalembe Birimumaiso, the former Omutalindwa (Speaker) of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom supreme council (Orukurato) describing him as key pillar for preserving Bunyoro heritage and history through several publications, a peacemaker and development champion whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of the Kingdom subjects.

Kalembe passed away this morning after battling an illness for a long time and his passing has been received with emotional tribute by various leaders and Kingdom subjects.

In a statement issued by the Kingdom premier Owek. Andrew Byakutaaga, the late Omutalindwa diligently served the Kingdom and presided over passing of various child protection ordinances and budgets for the cultural institution.

Byakutaga says Kalembe was a scholar and a writer of Bunyoro’s rich heritage and history noting that the kingdom has lost a key pillar whose legacy will remain part of the cultural institution.

Aliba Kiiza, the former Kingdom Prime Minister says Owek Kalembe was a great writer of the history of the Kingdom, very passionate and a true statesman of Bunyoro land.

The Hoima West Division Member of Parliament, Ismail Kasule, has eulogized Kalembe as a Bunyoro scholar who has preserved the Kingdom heritage. “His book, Omukama Cwa II Kabaleega: A Life and Legacy, 1853–1923, and his other publications will forever be our references regarding Bunyoro Kitara”, he adds.

Owek. Edgar Agaba, the former Kingdom Attorney General and head of Bakwonga Clan has described Kalembe as a unifier and a team player who rejected divisionism while they served together in the Kingdom and worked tirelessly to promote dialogue and reconciliation for the stability of the Kingdom.

The MP says the former Omutalindwa in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom was a peacemaker, a skilled negotiator, and above all a true lover of his people, always seeking harmony and the common good in the Kingdom.

The family together with the Kingdom were yet to release the burial program by the time of filling this story.
