Hoima City has registered an increase in the number of candidates for the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview, Johnson Kusiima Baingana says the City has registered a total of 4,090 PLE candidates compared to last year’s 3,691. These figures reveal there has been an increase of 399 candidates in this new year with the examination centers also increasing from 48 to 50.
Kusiima says out of the registered candidates, 2,191 candidates were registered from government-aided schools, while 1,899 came from private schools.
The City Education Officer has attributed the increase in the PLE candidature to the collective effort from all stakeholders encouraging who have continued to encourage parents and guardians to prioritize the learning of their children.
He says various stakeholders including himself have harnessed sensitization campaigns on education over radios and other platforms while explaining the profits of educating a child.
He urged schools, parents and candidates to ensure a 100 percent turnout when the final examinations later in the year.
He says they have now embarked on preparing the learners through close working relationship with heads of all primary schools with candidate classes across the City adding that this will continue up to the final examinations to ensure a better performance is registered this year.
