Police in Kibaale District have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of fatally stabbing his younger brother during a domestic dispute in Bwamiramira Sub-county.
According to Allan Julius Hakiza, the Uganda Police Force’s Albertine South Region spokesperson, the incident occurred on July 5, 2026, at Igomero Village, Kahyoro Parish, Bwamiramira Sub-county.
The deceased has been identified as Ankara Adam, also known as Kabaya, a 23-year-old peasant and resident of Igomero Village. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased confronted his brother over allegations that he had stolen a bag of beans belonging to their mother. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed Ankara in the back with a knife.
The victim was rushed to Mubende Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have registered the case under Kibaale CRB 268/2026. Detectives and Scene of Crime Officers visited and documented the scene, while statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses.
The suspect remains on the run, and police say efforts to trace and arrest him are ongoing. A post-mortem examination is also pending as investigations continue.
Police have condemned all forms of domestic violence and urged members of the public to resolve family disputes peacefully through local council leaders, elders, or the police instead of resorting to violence. Authorities
