26 Arrested in Kagadi, Kakumiro Over Drug Abuse

A total of 26 suspects mostly youths have been arrested in Kagadi and Kakumiro district in what Police calls a disruptive operation against drug addicts and criminal gangs operating in the area.

SP Julius Allan Hakiiza, the Albertine South Police spokesperson revealed that 13 suspects were arrested in Kagadi alone following the complaints raised by the locals over the increasing criminality in their area.

Hakiiza revealed that they will work with the area leaders to single out the serious cases and present them before courts of law in a campaign he says is aimed at restoring sanity in the region. He says several operations have already been carried out in other districts in Bunyoro region aimed at cracking down on criminality.

Relatedly, the Police mouthpiece confirmed the arrest of 80 suspected criminals in Igayaza town in Kakumiro district over drug abuse and reportedly being involved in criminality.

He says they detained 13 at Kakumiro CPS and freed others following the screening of the culprits to ensure the notorious ones are seriously dealt with.

He has rallied members of the community to cooperate with police and ensure they keep vigilant against criminal elements in there are.
