Maj Martha Asiimwe, the head of the RDC Secretariat and Anti-Corruption Unit has warned government workers and political leaders against engaging in corruption and embezzlement of public funds saying they are going to make the vice suicidal to engage in such activities.
Maj Asiimwe made the issued the warning on Tuesday during an Integrity meeting which brought together all members of City’s Integrity committee, security heads, office RDC, representative of CSOs, Religious leaders, all Town Clerks, Mayor who gathered at HB Hotel on Tuesday.
Maj Asiimwe says corruption is an evil which is killing the country, denying locals of services adding that everyone needs to join the fight against corruption.
She urged the media to support government campaign to escalate and expose corruption activities as a way of enhancing service delivery in their communities.
Maj Asiimwe says President Museveni has already initiated programs aimed at fighting poverty and enhancing service delivery saying there is need to ensure such monies meet their purpose.
Margret Monday the Hoima East Division female councilor there is need for leaders to unite together to fight corruption and improve service delivery saying the fight against corruption need to start from bottom to top.
Hajj Badru Mugabi the Hoima RCC says the Tuesday engagement is aimed to assess the implementation of government programs and projects such Hoima City is still battling with lack of road unit, inadequate structures at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and new staff who are yet to access the payroll among others.
