Hoima City Farmers Warned on Purchasing Fake Seeds, Embrace Improved Farming Methods

armers in Hoima City have been implored to exercise caution while selecting seeds to plant in the ongoing season.

Speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview, Mr. Samuel Kaheesi, the Hoima City production officer says many farmers rush to pick any kind of seeds to plant in order to catch up with the season and the ongoing rains which sometimes affect their output and yields when the crops get ready.

Kaheesi now says farmers must be intention when purchasing seeds for planting ensuring that they buy from only those approved agro-input shops and other selling points saying that any mistake at the start of the season affects the entire cycle of farming.

The Hoima City production officer also urges farmers to embrace improved farming methods as more pressure is being exerted on the already limited pieces of land due to an increased population. He says farmers must learn the hard ways of ensure they occasionally care for the soils through application of fertilizers, mulches among others such that fertility can be retained for extended seasons.
