As 2026 general elections fast approaches, voters in Hoima City have been urged to turn up and fulfil their constitutional right and elect their rightful leaders for better service delivery.

Speaking to several leaders in an interview, they say locals carry a great power of taking part in the electoral process and being intentional in choosing leaders whom they find fit to serve them for the next five years.

Sunny Macklin Kyomuhendo, a former Hoima East Division MP contestant in the July NRM primaries says voters should focus on service delivery than petty things which candidates give them and later abandon serving them without fulfilling their core roles.

She adds that, it is the responsibility of people to vote leaders of their choice, yet some voters have lost the morale due to many factors, citing corruption and poor service delivery.

John Baptist Byaruhanga, the Hoima West Division MP contestant, says it is the role of government to mobilize and sensitize voters to turn up for the voting exercise.

He reiterated that; voter participation is key in the voting process since it helps in the election of leaders of their choice. He has asked electorate to consider long term benefits than current problems while voting in the 2026 general elections.
