A 20-year-old man who was stabbed in the stomach in Bujogoro Village, Nyamarunda Sub-county, has died at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital, where he was admitted with severe injuries.

The deceased, James Akanyijuka, a resident of Kijunju Village in Bubango Sub-county, was attacked with a knife after he was accused of stealing Shs30,000.

The stabbing left his intestines exposed, and despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the hospital on Friday morning.

Kibaale District Police Commander Joseph Ayesiga could not be reached for a comment as he was in a meeting. However, police sources confirmed that the prime suspect, Ntyabishaka Munyarwanda of Kidindima Village, has been arrested.

Before his death, Akanyijuka recounted that the incident had happened at around 10:00 pm on Tuesday, following a misunderstanding with his friend Ntyabishaka over the missing money.

Reacting to the incident on Friday morning, Kibaale Deputy RDC Godfrey Kamagara condemned the increasing cases of murder in the district and assured residents that Ntyabishaka will be brought before the courts of law.

Kamagara also urged the youth to stay away from acts of violence and instead take advantage of government development programs.
