Mother Burns Own Daughter Over Stealing Neighbour’s Groundnuts in Masindi

Police in Masindi are investigating a case of aggravated child torture that occurred in Tantara village, Kyakamese Parish, Pakanyi Sub-county.

Information obtained by Spice FM reveals that a 9-year-old female juvenile, Akao Mefia, was allegedly burnt on the mouth with a burning charcoal by her biological mother, Akello Everlyne, who accused her of eating groundnuts belonging to a neighbor.

Julius Allan Hakiiza the Albertine North Regional Acting Spokesperson says a case of torture was reported and registered at Masindi Police Station yesterday at 3:45 AM and investigations have since commenced.

Hakiiza says the victim received medical attention, and the suspect was arrested and detained.

The Police Spokesperson has urged the public to prioritize children’s safety and well-being and refrain from using torture or abuse as a form of discipline.

He has called on parents and stakeholders to create a safe environment for children, free from abuse and exploitation.
