Several aspiring politicians in Hoima City have picked nomination forms from the Independent Electoral Commission offices in Kijungu cell, Hoima East division in preparation for the 2026 general elections. Both party flag bearers and those who seek to contest on independent ticket are some of them who have picked nomination forms.
According to Ms. Obra Atamba, the Hoima City Electoral Commission Administrator, the exercise of picking nomination forms right from parliamentary seats to division councilors opened up on August 11 and will go on until they open up the nomination exercise which begins on September 3.
Atamba says picking of forms is free, adding that there are MP aspirants, Lord Mayor, City and Division Councilors who have already picked nomination forms. She says at this stage the aspirants are not required to present any documents to access the nomination forms.
Among those who have so far picked forms include Princess Diana Mugenyi, Slyvia Balyesiima Nalumaga, and Donald Bakire Bategeka for parliamentary seats. Brian Kaboyo, Mustafa Kahuma and Omumwooli Joshua Byenkya have picked nomination forms for Hoima City mayoral seat while for division mayoral seat; Julius Kyomuhendo, Alex Kawooya and Robert Kyomuhendo have so far picked nomination forms. Aspiring councilors who have picked nomination forms include Hanifa Tumuhaise, Godfrey K Azoora, Richard Mugenyi, Idd Magezi, David Kato Agnes Kiiza, Edward Ayesiga, Beatrice Kabasiita, Sarah Balikenda among others.
Atamba has cautioned aspirants who have picked the nomination forms to fill them up to the last page without missing any detail in order not to be bounced back during the nomination exercise
The nomination exercise of parliamentary and local government positions will kick off on September 3 to 24, 2025.
