Locals plying the Kyentale-Bwikya stretch along the Hoima Kampala road have raised concerns over the increasing potholes and roadside bushes which are putting their lives at risk of accidents and being targets for criminal elements.

Speaking to Spice FM this morning Christopher Baguma, a resident of Kyentale and Chairperson Hoima East youth league says there are several accidents that have occurred between Kyentale and Kihemba stretch due to the presence of potholes which make it hard for both vehicles and boda bodas to overtake each other at the same time on top of bushy roadsides.

Baguma who is also aspiring councilor for Kyentale Ward to Hoima East division adds that sometimes road users end up pushing each other into trenches hence resulting into accidents. He says the bushy roadsides are also harboring criminal elements who always target residents as they return home and end up robbing them of their valuables.

He now wants quick intervention of the ministry of works and transport to ensure the road whose construction works were awarded to Abubaker Technical Services are completed on time.

Mr. Allan Ssempembwa a communication officer with the ministry of works while responding over the matter says they always encourage the contractors to carry out forward maintenance to ensure potholes are filled up on time whenever such issues arise.
