The police in Masindi have arrested nine people for alleged kidnap and murder of a 6-year-old boy in Masindi.

The suspects whose particulars have since been concealed for fear of jeopardizing investigations were arrested on Wednesday. They are all residents of Buliima village in Masindi district.

They are said to have planned, coordinated and kidnapped Josam Isingoma, son of Ronald Kusiima of Buliima town council on December 8th.

Isingoma had been sent to fetch water from a nearby well when he was reportedly kidnapped. His parents waited for him to return home in vain prompting them to report the matter to the police.

According to Kusiima, the boy’s father stated that the alleged kidnappers called him and demanded a ransom of six million shillings to free the boy or kill him should he fail to send them the money.

After waiting in vain for the parents to send the money, they reportedly killed Isingoma and buried his body in the nearby bush.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says, police tracked the suspects and arrested nine of them. The suspects later led police to where they killed and buried the boy.

Hakiza says police exhumed the body which was later transferred to the Masindi General Hospital mortuary for postmortem and later handed it over to the relatives for burial.
