Over 900 Iron Sheets, 30 Sewing Machines Delivered to Hoima, Masindi Districts from OPM.

The State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs Jenipher Namuyangu has commissioned the distribution of 450 iron sheets and 16 sewing machines to different beneficiaries in Hoima District.

Of the iron sheets, 200 have been given to Kabale Public Primary School has been handed 200 while Kigorobya COU Primary School has received 250.

Namuyangu says the Bunyoro Affairs docket will continue to support several micro projects aimed at improving infrastructure and homestead income generation in the region.

She has urged all the beneficiaries to out the items to good use and improve on learning environment and use the sewing machines to promote self-employment.

Sonko Bongore who represented the office of the RDC commended the Office of the Prime Minister-OPM for continuous support to Bunyoro region.

The Hoima District CAO Ssempala Emmanuel says Hoima District has made several strategies of improving on academic performance including the improvement of learning environment.

Masindi district has received 500 iron sheets and 15 sewing machines from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) through the Ministry of Bunyoro Affairs.

The items were delivered by the state minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, and officially handed over to beneficiaries on Tuesday at the district headquarters.

The iron sheets were distributed to four government-aided primary schools, including Nyantonzi Primary School which received 150 sheets, St. Mary’s Kyatiri Primary School (100), Isangara Primary School (150), and Ntooma Primary School (100), bringing the total to 500 iron sheets.

While addressing beneficiaries, Namuyangu said the OPM continues to support communities through donations such as hoes, coffee seedlings, iron sheets, grants, and heifers. She urged beneficiaries of the sewing machines to utilize them effectively to improve their livelihoods.

She noted that the beneficiaries had undergone training at the Bunyoro Presidential Zonal Industrial Hub and encouraged them to work in groups so they can also pass on skills to others and maximize benefits from the machines.

Namuyangu further advised school administrators to properly use the iron sheets for roofing and avoid charging parents, instead working with the office of the Chief Administrative Officer to secure additional funding where necessary.

Jane Akiror, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Masindi, also called on beneficiaries to make good use of the sewing machines to fight poverty and increase household incomes. She appealed to the Office of the Prime Minister to consider extending support to more residents in future phases.

Akiror noted that the district receives inadequate funding for education, explaining that it can only construct about two classroom blocks per financial year. She said the donation of iron sheets will help ease this burden.

While representing the district chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga, Wahid Juma Babyesiza, the district councilor representing Labbongo Sub-county, warned school administrators against diverting or sharing the iron sheets, saying offenders risk arrest.

He also cautioned beneficiaries against selling the sewing machines, emphasizing that they are meant to improve incomes and create employment opportunities.

Beneficiaries commended the government for the support, noting that the sewing machines will help them earn a living and improve their standards of living.
