Uganda Police registered 800 cases of political/electoral offences in the year 2025.

This was contained in the Annual Crime Report released by Police on Monday at the headquarters in Naguru, Kampala.

Last year’s statistics show an increase of 695 cases compared to 105 cases registered in the year 2025. AIGP Tom Magambo, the Director of Crime Investigations Directorate revealed that the statistics are up to December 2025 noting that the cases could be slightly higher taking note of several incidents that took place in the month of January when elections were held.

Out of the cases, Police registered 116 cases of incitement to violence, 679 election offences and 2 treason cases.

However, Magambo says the 2025-26 was the most peaceful election conducted in the country in the recent years with minimum electoral offences registered.
