Police in the Albertine South region in coordination with Hoima district authorities have this afternoon impounded suspected stolen assorted family planning drugs from Hoima Taxi Park in Hoima City as they were set to be ferried to Kampala.

The impounded government drugs are four boxes of implants which were reportedly picked from Kapaapi health centre III in Kapapi Sub County in Hoima district. Each box contains 80 packets of implants.

Information available reveals that drivers in Hoima Taxi parks alerted authorities in Hoima district who coordinated with the office of Regional Police Commander who dispatched a team of officers from Hoima CPS and they later impounded the boxes.

Speaking while at the Hoima CPS, Uthuman Mugisa Mubarak, the Hoima district LCV Chairperson has revealed that such medicines are always a donation from non-government organizations who support the government in the health sector saying that the unknown individuals were determined to take the drugs in Kampala and sell them in drug shops or pharmacies.

Uthuman has now directed police to carry out investigations on all staff at Kapapi health centre III until the people behind the stealing of drugs saying whoever will be caught in the act will automatically lose their jobs.
