Police in the Albertine South Region have arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves and recovered three suspected stolen number plates in Hoima City.
Speaking to our reporter on Monday evening at his office in Kijungu, SP Julius Allan Hakiiza the Regional Police Spokesperson has only identified the suspects as Asaba and Vincent who are currently detained at Kitoba police station with investigations into the matter already underway.
Hakiiza says the suspects stole a motorcycle with registration number UDQ 564L from Kibanjwa village, Kitoba sub-county, on March 7, 2026.
He adds that a search conducted by the local leaders together with Police their homes in Karongo cell in Hoima West division yielded the recovery of the stolen motorcycle, several number plates, spare parts, and a tool box. The number plates include UMA 985 CK, UMA 213CU and UGA 555 A
Hakiiza says the suspects and the recovered stolen items were first taken to Hoima West division police station and later transferred to Kitoba police station where the crime was committed. He has commended the area leaders and local residents for cooperating with police in fighting motorcycle thefts in the area.
Meanwhile, the Albertine South Regional Police Spokesperson has warned motorcycle owners and Boda Boda riders to be extra cautious with their motorcycles saying some of their fellows plot for their robbery.Â
