Polling for the Bulindi town council LCIII Chairperson has further been postponed for another week to Tuesday February 26.

According to the Electoral Commission, elections had been scheduled for Tuesday February 17 however it has instead been pushed to the sub county residual elections to next week leaving Tuesday’s elections for District/ City Division/ Municipality levels in areas where elections were not conducted or concluded due to various reasons.

Hassan Takwana, the district Returning Officer while speaking to Spice FM in an exclusive interview on Monday evening has disclosed that the Commission has made a revision of the residual election program emphasizing that voters in Bulindi town council will not go to polls tomorrow but instead next week.

Takwana has called for patience from the candidates, coordinators and the voters at large saying they have already received the biometric voter verification kits in preparation for the election as they wait for the polling materials later this week.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission has also issued guidelines to voters ahead of the election emphasizing that voting will begin at exactly 7am and end at 4pm with voting counting and tallying commencing immediately.

The Commission suspended voting for the LC III Chairperson seat in Bulindi Town Council, Hoima District on February 4, after ballot papers delivered to the area were found to contain names and photographs of candidates not nominated for the race.

The Bulindi Town Council LC III contest had attracted three candidates: Robert Ayebale, an Independent; Moses Kajura of the National Resistance Movement (NRM); and Hannington Sunday, also an Independent.

However ballot papers were discovered bearing names like Patrick Abola, Yakobo Sabino, Charles Obete Oryem, and Aldon Richard Kamuhara—individuals who are not registered voters in Bulindi Town Council.

Bulindi town council is made of three wards, Central, Kibaire and Kakindo.
