Muslim leaders in Hoima City have urged all Muslims to embrace unity and give to the needy as they renew their faith during the upcoming Ramadan month.
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is set to begin either on February 18 or 19, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon.
During the month, which lasts 29 or 30 days, Muslims observing the fast will refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk, typically for a period of 12 to 15 hours, depending on their location.
Now Speaking to Spice FM on Monday, Sheikh Akram Abdul Karim Mahango, a Muslim leader at Hoima Town mosque asked all Muslims to renew their lost love and avoid all issues that result into divisionism during the fasting period. Sheik Akram also advised Muslims to use this period to reform and forsake all evil acts like taking of alcohol, marijuana and spreading rumors.
The Cleric also urged Muslims to focus on giving and feeding the needy during this period and avoid calling non-muslin as pagans but instead maintain a good relationship with them.
Ms. Hadija Birungi a Politician in Hoima City called on women to focus on true fasting as recommended in the Holy Quran and maintain a Muslim culture of exhibiting good morals through decent dressing among others during and after the month of Ramadan.
Ibrahim Isingoma, a Muslim believer disclosed that they are eagerly waiting for the Holy month to start and has advised fellow Muslims not to pretend that they are fasting yet they continue engage in eating. He also encouraged them not to let small issues deter them from fasting.
