Hoima district leadership has Tuesday launched projects works worth 560 Million shillings in a bid to improve on quality of education service delivery.
The projects which are being implemented with funding from the School Facilities Grant (SFG) in the 2025/2026 financial year, were launched by a team of led by the Hoima Resident District Commissioner-RDC Rogers Mbabazi are located in Kapapi, Kisukuma and Bombo sub counties.
The education projects launched include the construction of a three-classroom block at Kapapi primary school in Kapapi Sub County which was contracted by Basingo Contractors at a cost of 177.7 Million Shillings. Other projects include the five-stance pit latrine at Kyamukwenda primary school in Kapapi sub county which was contracted by Gervinho contractors at a cost of 32 Million Shillings and a two classroom block at Bukona primary school in Kisukuma sub county by Basingo Contractors at a cost of 120 Million shillings.
The district leaders also launched the works on a two-classroom block at Kitemba primary school in Bombo sub county which is being constructed by the Muda construction company at a cost of 109 million Shillings and a two-classroom block at Haiguru 1 primary school in Bombo sub county which was contracted by Bamusi Field contractors at a cost of 120 Million Shillings.
Harriet Kihumuro, the Hoima District Education Officer said that the new classroom structure will help accommodate the large enrolment of the school which was by close of last term in 2025 at 1,759 pupils adding that some of the pupils at this school have been learning from a makeshift tent which was inconveniencing them.
The Hoima RDC Rogers Mbabazi has commended the district administration for putting the public funds to right use on projects which will benefit thousands of pupils to access education in a safe learning environment.
The Hoima District LCV Chairman Uthuman Mugisha who was represented by the Vice LCV Chairperson Hellen Mulumba said that the district is committed to improving on the standards of education of children more especially by putting up the necessary infrastructure.
