Thousands of Christians across Kagadi District gathered today to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, marked annually on December 25.

Celebrations were filled with calls for peace, unity, obedience, and active community engagement from church leaders and political figures.

At St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kagadi Parish, the Episcopal Vicar of Kagadi Vicariate, Rev. Fr. Peter Kaberenge, urged believers to celebrate Christmas responsibly and maintain peace throughout the festive season.

He encouraged Christians to follow Jesus’ example by performing good deeds and showing love to others.

Rev. Fr. Kaberenge also cautioned against domestic violence, noting that such acts harm one’s Christian witness and weaken faith.  He wished the public a happy and prosperous New Year 2026 and encouraged preparation for the new year through repentance, abandoning bad habits, and embracing positive change.

Several dignitaries attended the Mass, including Kagadi Town Council Mayor Businge Geoffrey and Buyaga East flag bearer Twesige Stephen. Twesige congratulated Christians on reaching the Christmas celebrations, urging them to open their hearts to the newly born Christ and participate in development initiatives to become responsible and productive citizens.

Meanwhile, at St. Luke’s Church of Uganda in Kagadi town council, Reverend Eric Irumba called on Christians and the public to spread the gospel of peace, emphasizing that Jesus came to bring harmony to the world.

NRM Woman MP flag bearer for Kagadi District, Margret Naziwa Rujumba, urged couples and the wider public to resolve misunderstandings and embrace reconciliation.

At Nyaigana Archdeaconry headquarters, Christians gathered to celebrate Christmas with a focus on faith, unity, and community development.

The main preacher, Ven. Rev. Okello Elisa encouraged believers to celebrate with hope, joy, and thanksgiving while helping the needy.

He urged Christians to embrace a form of Christianity that promotes development at the household and church levels.

Rev. Okello highlighted ongoing efforts to raise over UGX 28 million to complete the Archdeaconry headquarters building and encouraged steady financial and moral support from the faithful.

Sewante Sepiria, Head of the Laity at Nyaigana, commended Christians for upholding church values and encouraged regular Sunday prayers to ensure the growth and progress of the church.

At Kagadi Revival Explosion Cathedral Church, Senior Pastor Pr. Magezi F. Ibrahim urged Christians to practice obedience during the festive season and throughout their lives, following Jesus’ example. He emphasized that obedience is key to achieving personal goals even in challenging circumstances.

Pr. Magezi also called on believers to maintain peace during Christmas and the political season ahead of the 2026 general elections, stressing that peace is a cornerstone for development and progress.

This year’s Christmas celebrations across Kagadi sent a unified message from church leaders and politicians: Christians should embrace faith, obedience, peace, and community development as guiding principles for both personal and societal growth.
