Two independent candidates who had been nominated for different political positions in Kibaale District have officially withdrawn from the 2025 electoral process in support of the NRM flag bearers.
According to a letter dated 27th November, Edward Musa Birimunda tendered his withdrawal from the race for LC3 Chairperson of Nyamarunda Sub County, choosing to back the NRM flag bearer, Constant Kazibwe.
Similarly, Emmanuel Kasozi, an independent candidate for District Councilor representing Bwamiramira Sub County, also submitted his withdrawal letter to the Kibaale Electoral Commission office yesterday in favor of the NRM flag bearer, Omuhereza Tugume Sewante.
The withdrawing candidates stated that their decisions were made in the interest of strengthening the NRM party, adding that they are committed to rallying behind the party’s flag bearers.
Birimunda Edward requested the District Chairperson, Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga, to ensure that Nyamarunda Sub County receives improved services.
Kibaale LCV Chairperson and NRM Publicity Secretary, Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga, who mediated the withdrawal process, welcomed the move.  He assured the candidates that their concerns would be addressed for the development of their respective areas.
The withdrawal letters were received by Stephen Mulabi, the Assistant District Elections Administrator for Kibaale, who confirmed that the necessary procedures will be followed to effect the withdrawals. NRM flag bearer Constant Kazibwe expressed gratitude to Birimunda for supporting the party and also thanked LCV Chairperson Muhonge for guiding the mediation process.
