Police in Kakumiro District have arrested a suspect believed to be connected to the brutal murder of Amos Muhumuza, who was killed on November 5, 2025, in Kakindo Town Council.

The arrest was confirmed on Monday morning by David Otabongo, the Kakumiro District Police Commander, while speaking to our reporter at Kakumiro Police Station.

According to Otabongo, the suspect — whose details have been withheld to avoid jeopardizing ongoing investigations — was arrested on Friday, November 7, 2025.

It is alleged that the suspect was among a group of unidentified assailants who intercepted the deceased, Amos Muhumuza, and killed him as he traveled from Mwitanzige to Kakindo Town, where he had rented a room to operate a bar business.

SP Otabongo confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody at Kakumiro Police Station, adding that investigations are underway to apprehend others who participated in the crime.

Otabongo further assured the public that efforts to arrest other suspects are ongoing and that once apprehended, they will be arraigned before the courts of law.

He concluded by urging members of the public to remain vigilant and minimize unnecessary movements during late hours for their own safety.

“We appeal to residents to be security-conscious and avoid moving alone at night, as this can help reduce such tragic incidents,” Otabongo advised.
