Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda, has been duly nominated in her bid to retain the Kakumiro District Woman Member of Parliament seat.
Nabbanja is seeking a fourth term, was declared a duly nominated candidate by Honest Baguma, the Kakumiro District Returning Officer at the Kakumiro Electoral Commission offices.
Speaking shortly after her nomination, Nabbanja, the NRM candidate, thanked the people of Kakumiro for the unwavering support extended to her over the years. She requested more support from the voters to enable her to win the 2026 general elections.
Nabbanja has pledged to make improvements in the health, education, women’s empowerment, road network, electricity connectivity, agricultural production, and to ensure that people’s household incomes are enhanced.
She has appealed to the people of Kakumiro and Bunyoro to support the NRM government, saying that Bunyoro has benefited from Museveni’s leadership.
She cited the construction of the Kabalega international airport, the oil roads, the discovery of oil and gas resources, and the construction of the Hoima city stadium, noting that these are huge projects being initiated in the region that the people of the Bunyoro sub-region should appreciate.
Nabanja further says, the NRM ushered in peace and tranquility that Ugandans continue to enjoy.
The prime minister has further rallied the people of Bunyoro to jealously embrace the various government programs like PDM, Uwep, Emyooga, and the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP) being initiated in the region to enhance their well-being and improve their household incomes.
Nabbanja is facing two other candidates, Grace Tushemereirwe Bataringaya, an independent candidate, and Hellen Kohiire Mutabazi of the National Unity Platform (NUP). The two aspirants were yet to be nominated by the time of filing this report.
during NRM polled 101,649 votes while Grace Tushemereirwe Bataringaya polled 18,052 votes. Praise Nabasa came third with 2163 votes, while Harriet Ssali Tibulihwa emerged in the fourth position with 269 votes.
