The National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has promised the people of Bunyoro a big share from the oil sector.
Kyagulanyi made the pledges during his campaign trail at Kanyansi grounds in Kagadi town council in Kagadi district on Monday.
Kyagulanyi noted that his administration will prioritize extending oil benefits to host areas exceeding the current statutory allocation. “The oil will help the people of Bunyoro before the rest of Uganda. They say it should be 1% but under my government, this share will increase” he said adding that allocations would be based on negotiations rather than rigid statutory provisions.
He added that Banyoro can decide what percentage of oil they want and they will give it to them.
Bobi Wine also noted that Bunyoro sub-region is still grappling with challenges of land grabbing, unemployment and high poverty levels despite its wealth and natural resources.
He has pledged to prioritize electricity, health services, road infrastructure, address human rights abuse, corruption, rule of law and social justice.
Today Tuesday, Robert Kyagulanyi will campaign in Kakumiro and Kikuube districts.
