Bugangaizi East NRM Parliamentary Flag Rearer Remanded for Assaulting Prime Minister Nabbanja

Kibaale Chief Magistrate has Wednesday afternoon remanded the National Resistance Movement -NRM Parliamentary flag bearer for Bugangaizi East Constituency in Kakumiro District Hon. Onesmas Twinamasiko for allegedly assaulting Uganda’s Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja.
Twinamasiko appeared before court in Kibaale where charges of assault and causing bodily harm were preferred against him.
It is alleged on July 17, 2025, at the declaration of the NRM Party Primary results for parliamentary flag bearers, for a scuffle erupted at Kakumiro NRM Office and in due course, Twinamasiko assaulted the Prime Minister in front of several NRM supporters.
Twinamasiko sought court bail on grounds that it’s his constitutional right after presenting sureties who included Joseph Ssetayi Senkusu, the Kakumiro district chairman, Hon Baraza Lawrence from Kakindo sub county and Moses Twimukye the Kisiita sub county chairperson. However, the state attorney rejected the move.
Twinamasiko has been remanded until 10th of this month and sent to Kibaale Government Prison.
