Assailants Hack Man to Death, Dump Body in Stream

Police in Hoima City are hunting for yet unknown murderers who raided Kyedikyo cell in Bwikya ward, Hoima East division hacking a man and dumping his body in a river.

The deceased has only been identified as Bigirwa 48, a resident of the same area. The incident happened on Sunday night.

Available information gathered by Spice FM indicates that the assailants waylaid the deceased as he was heading home from Kyedikyo trading center and hacked him several times on the head.  After executing their mission, the assailants dumped the deceased’s body in a river and fled.

The body was found floating on the river by passersby on Monday morning.

Anthony Ecudu, the Kyedikyo LC1 Chairperson says, the deceased was last seen in the area on Sunday evening and residents were shocked to discover his body floating in the river on Monday morning. He says, police were immediately notified of the incident.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident noting that area residents teamed up with the police and retrieved the body from the river. The body was later conveyed to the Hoima city mortuary for postmortem examination.

According to Hakiza, the hunt for the suspects is ongoing. He appealed to members of the public to liaise with security by providing vital information that could lead to the arrest and detention of the suspects.

In August, unknown assailants waylaid and fatally stabbed a woman in Hoima city. The deceased was then identified as 48-year-old Leo Nalubega, a resident of Kyesiiga West Cell, Kyesiiga Ward in Hoima West Division.

The attackers had ambushed Nalubega, stabbing her several times in the back before dumping her by the roadside. She was found unconscious the next morning by passersby, who alerted the police. Although Nalubega was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, she died a few hours after admission.
