Police in the Albertine region have impounded four vehicles suspected to have been used to steal cattle in the area.
According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine South Region Police spokesperson explained that cattle thieves have been using high-end vehicles such as Pajero, Prados, and Toyota Land Cruisers (TX) to carry out their operations.
He says the vehicles impounded are UAX 736K Toyota Land Cruisers (TX), UA 070AX Pajero, UAY953L Spacio, UAK917J Premio.
Hakiza says as police they are now issuing a warning to the public to be vigilant about executive-type of vehicles in their areas, cautioning them against making assumptions that they belong to wealthy individuals, instead, residents are urged to notify the police if they notice suspicious vehicles in their area.
Hakiza is now calling upon individuals who have lost their animals and reported to police to check with regional police where their animals are.
He said police has response patrol in place that use motorcycles to patrol around ready to act on cattle thieves adding that some of these thieves work with butchers since they sell for them these stolen animals.
